HEMPSTEAD, NY – The New York Lizards clinched a playoff berth with an 18-11 victory over Chesapeake behind seven goals and two assists by Rob Pannell, who established a new MLL single-season record for points.
New York jumped out to a 12-4 first-half lead on the way to an 18-11 playoff-clinching victory over the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Will Manny added five points and Joel Tinney added a hatrick.
Lyle Thompson factored in on every goal for the Bayhawks in the third, as the Bayhawks cut the lead to 15-8. Thompson and Myles Jones each had five points for Chesapeake but their effort wasn’t enough to stop Pannell and Manny.
The Bayhawks secured the second seed in the playoffs with last week's win and finished the year with a 9-5 record. The Lizards finished the year at 8-6 and will head to Dallas for the opening round of the playoffs.
