ANNAPOLIS, Md. - For Chesapeake Bayhawks midfielder Kyle Dixon, one MLL record just wasn't enough.

After becoming Major League Lacrosse's all-time leader with his 34th career two-point goal, the former University of Virginia standout added two more two-point goals to match another MLL record as the Chesapeake Bayhawks (2-0) overcame a 5-4 first quarter deficit to earn their second straight win, a 23-11 victory over the Ohio Machine (0-1) in front of 10,162 fans at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

Dixon, who earned Bud Light MLL Player of the Game honors, became the eighth player in MLL history to score three two-point goals in a game. He is the first player to accomplish the feat since Stephen Berger scored three two-point goals last year with the Long Island Lizards.

The Bayhawks jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first four minutes on goals from midfielders Ben Hunt and Steven Brooks. After the teams traded goals to give Chesapeake a 3-1 advantage, the Machine answered with three straight goals to take a 4-3 edge with 5:53 left in the first quarter. Midfielder Jim Connolly led the charge ith a goal and an assist.

After the teams traded goals again in the closing minutes of the first quarter, the Bayhawks used a four-point spurt, including two goals from Hunt, to take an 8-5 lead with 12:48 left in the first half.

Brooks and midfielder Matt Casey traded goals before Dixon scored a two-point goal with 9:31 left in the second quarter for an 11-6 cushion. The two-point marker allowed Dixon to break the MLL career two-point goals record, which had been held by former Barrage midfielder Roy Colsey.

A pair of goals, including a two-point marker from Brett Garber, narrowed the Machine's deficit to 11-9 at the intermission.

Led by a goal and an assist from Dixon, the Bayhawks opened the second half with four straight goals to extend their advantage to 15-9 with 5:15 left in the third quarter.

After attackman Chazz Woodson scored an unassisted goal with 3:35 left in the third quarter, the Bayhawks answered with six straight points, including a pair of two-point goals by Dixon, for a commanding 21-10 lead with 5:28 left in regulation.

Connolly tallied his third goal of the game with 4:09 remaining, but the Bayhawks added two more goals in the final two minutes to secure the victory.

While Dixon led the Bayhawks with his career-high 10-point performance, Hunt recorded his second consecutive "hat trick" with four goals, including a two-point marker. Brooks also scored four goals as the Bayhawks outshot Ohio by a 46-36 margin.

Connolly scored three goals to lead the Machine in a losing effort while Garber, Woodson and attackman Jordan Levine each contributed two goals.

The Bayhawks will host Rochester next Saturday night at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium while the Machine will visit Charlotte next Saturday in a match-up of the MLL's two newest teams.

Notes: Dixon became the 16th player in MLL history to record 10 points in a single game ... In addition, he was just two points shy of the Bayhawks' franchise record that was set by attackman Mark Millon in 2003 when he scored eight goals with four assists in a win over Rochester ... Of the Bayhawks' 19 goals scored on Saturday, 14 of them came from the midfield ... The Bayhawks were one two-point goal shy of matching the MLL single-game record.
