March 17, 2016
Watch & Follow: Syndicated TV: SportsTime Ohio (10pm, 6/18 noon), Verizon, Brighthouse, ESPN3, Live Blog, MLL Radio

The Big Picture: The Ohio Machine will host the Long Island Lizards on Saturday, June 16th at 7 p.m. (ET). The Machine dropped to 1-4 after a tough 16-8 loss to the Denver Outlaws last weekend. The Lizards look to continue their recent success this season after a 13-10 win over the Boston Cannons last week. Long Island improved to 3-2 on the season and moved to fourth place in MLL standings.
In the two teams first meeting on June 1st the Lizards dominated the Machine 20-10. The Lizards are hoping to repeat their last meeting, while the Machine are looking for a win and a turning point to regain control of their season.

Long Island Lizards: The Lizards are coming off a big 13-10 win over the Boston Cannons last weekend, head Coach Joe Spallina hopes to carry the momentum from that  win on the road and use it this weekend traveling to Ohio. The first time the Machine and Lizards squared off turned out to be a dominating game for the Lizards, racking up 20 goals against the expansion team. Coach Spallina says that the team is still trying to “figure each other out,” due to the Lizards roster turnover with new faces being added to the team this season, such as Brian Langtry and Max Seibald. The Lizards offense has displayed great ball movement in the last couple of games, with a lot of quick stick assists and shots. Expect to see a great match-up between the Lizards attack and Machine defense, both sides have plenty of talent.
Players to Watch: One of the best goalies in the MLL Drew Adams, after a big win over the Boston Cannons, Adams was named player of the game with 16 saves after 26 shots on goal. Midfielder Max Seibald is having a great season so far with 11 goals, 2 two point goals, and 2 assists. Seibald scored 4 goals against the Machine last time they met. Attackman Matt Gibson, the rookie has come out of the gate full speed this season. Gibson has 4 goals and 9 assists so far in his MLL debut season. Defensemen Brian Karalunas, who was named last week’s MLL Defensive Player of the Week. Karalunas shut down Cannons attackman Ryan Boyle, leaving Boyle with an unusual 0 goals and 0 assists game. Lastly, watch attackman Brian Langtry, he is proving himself to be one of the premier attackmen in the league with 15 goals in 5 games.

Ohio Machine: The expansion team is still struggling to get the wins they are capable off. The Machine are stacked with talent in every position. They have player like Chazz Woodson and Connor Martin who make highlight worthy plays, but as a team they need to start games strong and finish them stronger. This is something Coach Ted Garber hopes will happen against the Lizards. With the addition of Virginia star Steele Stanwick, the Machine hope he will be the spark they need to get a win. Coach Garber doesn’t want the team to rely on Stanwick in his first game saying that, “I told the guys Superman is not coming. I'm not putting all the pressure on him to win for us but he'll be good.” Garber also added a sneak peek of his locker room motivation for his players and all lacrosse players alike saying, “It's not about who you line-up against but what you do when you line-up.” This statement confirms that the Machine are a hungry team, with their talent and desire to continue improving, we will see a great game against the Lizards.
Players to Watch: Attackman Chazz Woodson, he is someone you should watch every second of the game because you never know when he will make a highlight worthy play. Woodson has 13 goals and 3 assists so far this season. Fellow attackman Connor Martin is a player who can also score at any moment with 14 points this season. Defenseman Kyle Hartzell is a great defenseman and scorer, look for him to dominate on both sides of the ball. The Machine defense is not lacking talent; watch a good match-up between Brett Hughes and Greg Bice with the Lizards attackmen.
