HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Midfielder Brian Langtry scored a season-high five goals, including four in the first half, as the Long Island Lizards earned their second straight win, a 20-10 Major League Lacrosse victory over the Ohio Machine at Shuart Stadium on Friday evening.

Langtry, who was named as the Bud Light MLL Player of the Game, recorded his third "hat trick" of the season. In his last two games, Langtry has scored eight goals with an assist.

Langtry gave the Lizards a quick 2-0 lead by scoring twice in the first 94 seconds, but the Machine answered with a pair of goals from midfielder Brett Garber and Jordan Levine to tie the score at 2-2 with 9:13 left in the opening period.

After the teams traded goals later in the first quarter, midfielder Ryan Young scored off a feed from attackman Matt Gibson to give Long Island a 4-3 edge with 2:55 remaining in the stanza.

The Machine used two goals from Matt Messina and Chazz Woodson to take a 5-4 lead with 6:28 remaining in the first half before Langtry ignited a three-goal run to end the first half by scoring twice, which gave the Lizards a 7-5 advantage at the intermission.

Led by two goals from midfielder Stephen Peyser, the Lizards extended their lead to 13-6 by scoring six of the first seven points in the third quarter. However, the Machine trimmed the margin to 13-9 by scoring three times in the final four minutes, including a pair of markers from attackman Connor Martin.

After rookie Rob Rotanz narrowed the gap to 13-10 with an unassisted goal in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, the Lizards put the game out of reach by scoring seven unanswered goals, including two goals from attackmen Grant Catalino, Max Seibald and Tommy Palasek.

While Langtry led the Lizards with his five-goal performance, Seibald contributed four goals with an assist. Gibson, the reigning Cascade Rookie of the Week, had his second straight four-assist performance while also scoring a goal.

Martin led Ohio in a losing effort by scoring three goals while Woodson added two goals with an assist.
