Annapolis, MD - Colin Heacock scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Chesapeake Bayhawks to a 16-13 win over the New York Lizards. An 11-goal first half gave the Bayhawks a cushion that outlasted a rally by Will Manny and the Lizards. The Bayhawks (8-2) won for the seventh consecutive game.
The Lizards trio of Joe Walters, Rob Pannell and Manny each recorded five points apiece, but the Bayhawks managed to get a balanced scoring attack from Heacock and others. Myles Jones and Nate Lewnes each added three goals and Jeremy Sieverts had three points in his return to the Bayhawks after seven seasons with the Denver Outlaws. Niko Amato was a stalwart again in the cage for Chesapeake, turning aside 19 Lizards' shots in his seventh win in eight appearances this season for head coach Dave Cottle.
With the win, the Bayhawks remained within a half-game of the league-leading Dallas Rattlers. The Lizards (5-6) are locked in a battle for a playoff spot but remain in fifth place behind the Charlotte Hounds (6-6) who lost to the Rattlers earlier Saturday.
