HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Midfielder Brian Langtry scored two of his game-high three goals in the second half as the Long Island Lizards overcame a one-goal halftime deficit to edge the Charlotte Hounds by a 13-9 margin at James M. Shuart Stadium on Saturday evening.

Langtry, who was named as the Bud Light MLL Player of the Game, tallied both of his second-half goals in the third quarter to ignite the Lizards' comeback.

After the Hounds sprinted out to a quick 3-0 lead in the game's first five minutes, the Lizards answered with back-to-back markers from Langtry and rookie attackman Matt Gibson to narrow the margin to 3-2 with 4:33 remaining in the opening stanza.

But, the Hounds answered with 28 seconds left in the period as attackman Eric Lusby converted a feed from midfielder Stephen Berger to extend the advantage to 4-2.

Charlotte upped its cushion to 6-2 in the first 90 seconds of the second quarter with a pair of goals from Berger and defenseman Ricky Pages. But, the Lizards answered by scoring four of the next five goals to trim the margin to 7-6 at the intermission.

After midfielder Brian Carroll gave Charlotte an 8-6 advantage just 43 seconds into the third quarter, Langtry sparked a five-goal run by the Lizards with back-to-back goals just 52 seconds apart in the closing minutes of the third quarter.

A goal by midfielder Greg Gurenlian and two markers from attackman Max Seibald completed the Lizards' run and gave Long Island an 11-8 lead with 11:01 remaining in regulation.

With 8:46 remaining, midfielder Kevin Kaminski ended a nearly 23-minute scoring drought for the Hounds, closing the margin to 11-9. But, the Lizards used goals from rookie attackman Tommy Palasek and attackman Grant Catalino to secure the victory.

While Langtry led the Lizards with his three-goal effort, Gibson scored two goals with two assists while Catalino and Seibald each added a pair of goals.

Attackman Billy BItter led the Hounds with two goals while Berger and Kaminski each tallied a goal with an assist.
