BOSTON, Mass. – Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced Monday its weekly award winners for the week ending August 7, 2011, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross. A pair of Boston Cannons were honored by the MLL as midfielder Kevin Buchanan was named as the Offensive Player of the Week while goalkeeper Jordan Burke earned the Defensive Player of the Week award.

Barney Ehrmann was selected as the Cascade MLL Rookie of the Week.
Buchanan, who earned the first MLL Offensive Player of the Week award of his career, scored four goals and added an assist as the Cannons clinched the MLL regular season title and the top seed for Sports Authority MLL Championship Weekend presented by Warrior with a 13-8 victory over the Hamilton Nationals on Saturday evening. He scored two goals of his goals in the first quarter as the Cannons jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead and also had two goals during a five-goal run in the fourth quarter.
The Cannons’ sixth-leading scorer with 21 points this season, Buchanan has scored 17 goals, including a two-point goal, with three assists.
Meanwhile, Burke earned Bud Light Player of the Game honors for the second time this season after matching a career high with 24 saves in the Cannons’ 13-8 victory. He made 15 of his 24 saves in the second half, including nine in the fourth quarter, as the Cannons earned their second straight win.
The MLL leader with a .621 save percentage, Burke ranks second in the MLL with 159 saves and a 10.42 goals against average. It is the third time in Burke’s career that he has been named as the MLL Defensive Player of the Week, including the second honor this year.
Ehrmann helped the defending MLL champion Bayhawks earn their second straight postseason berth with a 13-11 victory over the Rochester Rattlers on Saturday night. He recorded a season-high seven ground balls as the Bayhawks ended a two-game losing streak.
Ehrmann, who has played in eight games this season, ranks sixth on the team with 22 ground balls. He was selected by the Bayhawks with the 24th overall selection in the MLL Collegiate Draft. It is the first time Ehrmann has been honored by the MLL in his career.
The final week of the regular season will feature three games on Saturday night as the final spot for the postseason is determined. The Bayhawks will host Denver while Boston welcomes Rochester to Harvard Stadium. Meanwhile, Hamilton will travel to Long Island for a game that will determine the fourth and final play-off team.

The semi-finals will take place on Saturday, August 27 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. while the MLL Championship Game will be played on Sunday, August 28 at 3 p.m. All three games will be played at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
