The Charlotte Hounds made some big moves on Friday in preparation for the 2013 Major League Lacrosse Season. The Hounds traded prolific midfielder Stephen Berger to New York in exchange for midfielder Colin Briggs, attackman Ryan Young and the 3 rd round natural selection in the 2014 MLL Collegiate Draft. The Hounds subsequently traded Briggs to the Boston Cannons in exchange for the Cannons’ 2 nd round natural selection in 2014.

Berger returns to New York where he spent his whole career. He was acquired via trade prior at the end of 2011 and immediately proceeded to make an impact in the Hounds’ inaugural season. In 2012, he appeared in all 14 games leading the team in goals, with 23, and finishing second in assists (13) and points (39).  The perennial All-Star appeared in his sixth All-Star Game earning MVP honors with a three-goal performance.

Prior to 2012 Berger enjoyed a seven-year stint with New York where he recorded 148 goals and 44 assists in 82 games played.

Entering his second season in MLL, Briggs was originally acquired in a trade with the Denver Outlaws in exchange for Zack Greer last October. The UVA product appeared in eight games recording two goals and one assist for the Outlaws.

Young was acquired by New York in the fourth round (No. 23 overall) of the 2011 Collegiate Draft. The University of Maryland graduate appeared in 19 games for the Lizards, scoring 17 goals and seven assists.
