After the Boston Cannons, Chesapeake Bayhawks and New York Lizards opened camp last weekend, seven of the eight MLL teams will be active this weekend with training sessions, physicals and everything that goes with preparing for the 2013 MLL season

The Cannons will visit Glastonbury High School in Connecticut for an afternoon practice, followed by a scrimmage against the CroART All-Stars tomorrow, April 13 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. The following weekend will see the team participate in the Gentle Giant Challenge Charity Run at noon on Saturday, April 20, followed by a one-hour practice from 4:00 – 5:00 PM and another scrimmage against the CroART All-Stars from 5:30-7:30PM. The 2012 MLL Champion Chesapeake Bayhawks will continue training at Ann Arundel Community College in Arnold, Md. Saturday, April 13 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. The Bayhawks’ camp will conclude with a scrimmage on Saturday, April 20 against the Denver Outlaws at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Md. at 7:00 PM.

This week the Lizards will practice on the road twice more, first at Randall’s Island from 8:00 – 10:00 PM on Saturday, April 13 and then at SUNY Stony Brook from 9:00 AM-noon on Sunday, April 14. New York will conclude their training at Smithtown West High School on Sunday, April 21 st from noon-2:00 PM.

Two separate camp sessions for the Charlotte Hounds will start today, with team testing and physicals, followed by a team dinner. Tomorrow, the Hounds have scheduled strength & conditioning with Nick Stevens prior to an 11:30AM-12:45 PM Practice at Charlotte Christian Field, followed by an additional practice from 2:00-3:45 PM before concluding their day with a team dinner/appearance at Buffalo Wild Wings. On Sunday, April 14, the team will practice again from 9:15 -11:45 AM before departing for the U.S. National Whitewater Center, where they will participate in team building and whitewater rafting for the afternoon.

The next weekend, Charlotte will hold two practices at Providence Day Field on Saturday, April 20, from 10:00 AM- noon and 2:00PM-4:00PM, intercut with a team position meeting and preceding an appearance at the Hickory Tavern. Their final day will consist of two more practice sessions at Providence Day, from 9:45 AM-noon and 1:00-2:30 PM before the Hounds leave for the airport prepared to start their 2013 MLL season.

Preseason preparation for the Ohio Machine will begin this weekend, with an 8AM-3PM session at St. Charles Prep on Sunday, April 14 th. The following weekend, the Machine will spend April 20 at Wellington School, where they will also be holding a scrimmage, from 9:00AM-4:00PM before returning to St. Charles Prep on Sunday, April 21 from 8:00AM-3:00PM. In-between sessions, the Outlaws will have offseason workouts during the week to continue their preparation for what may yet be another run at the Steinfeld Trophy; this year, however, it’s safe to say they won’t be settling for second best.

The Rochester Rattlers will hold their camp at SUNY Albany with sessions on Saturday April 13, Sunday April 14 and concluding the following weekend on Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21.

Finally, there won’t be much travel necessary for the Hamilton Nationals during the weekend of April 20-21, when the team will host their training camp at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Saturday, April 20 will have physicals from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM, with Head Shots and video peppered in-between, until practice on Alumni Field from 2:00-5:00 PM. The next day, an extended practice will be held on Alumni Field from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, effectively concluding the Nationals training camp.
