BOSTON (June 6, 2018) – Chesapeake Bayhawks goalie Niko Amato was named the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week for Week 7 after backstopping a 13-8 win over the Machine on Saturday night.
Amato, 27, made 18 saves on 25 shots for a .680 save percentage. He surrendered seven goals, including a two-point goal, his fewest allowed in a start in his career. He limited the Machine to just two goals through the first three quarters of the game, making 15 saves in that time. The eight points total marked Ohio’s fewest in a game since also scoring eight on 5/20/17 against Charlotte.
The Bayhawks acquired Amato from the Florida Launch prior to the 2015 season. He was a three-time All-American at Maryland prior to the Launch selecting him in the fourth round of the 2014 Collegiate Draft.
