BOSTON (May 8, 2018) – Atlanta Blaze attacker Kevin Rice was named the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week for Week 4. Rice helped the Blaze improve to 3-1 on the season with a 17-14 win over the Boston Cannons on Saturday.
Rice, 25, recorded a season-high four goals, one two-point goal and four assists in the win, becoming the third Blaze player to ever record nine points in a single game. He joined Randy Staats, who had a nine-point game on May 14, 2016, and Deemer Class, who achieved the feat last week and was named the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week in Week 3. In two games against the Cannons this season, Rice totaled 16 points with six goals and nine assists.
Rice is in his fourth season in Major League Lacrosse, and his third with the Atlanta Blaze. In 31 career games between the Blaze and Rochester Rattlers, Rice has recorded 149 points and 83 goals. The Rochester Rattlers initially drafted him in the fourth round of the 2015 Collegiate Draft out of Syracuse. Rice was acquired by the Blaze in 2016, along with Graeme Hossack and Conor Doyle, in exchange for Jeremy Boltus, John Ranagan and an 8th-round pick.
