Three games, rivalries renewed, records tied and a game in Florida are what characterized opening weekend of the 2013 Major League Lacrosse season. Here’s a quick recap of what went down.

Saturday, April 27

Denver Outlaws 21 – Charlotte Hounds 16 (American Legion Stadium, Charlotte, N.C.)

WATCH: Game Highlights

The Denver Outlaws proved to be too much for the Charlotte Hounds as they closed a 21-16 decision Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. Player of the Game, Chris Bocklet, scored a game-high six goals. Midfielder Jeremy Sieverts contributed three goals, including one two-point goal, as well as an assist. The Outlaws face-off duo of Anthony Kelly and Stephen Robarge went 24-39 on the evening. Hounds attackman Matt Danowski led the way for Charlotte, scoring five goals, and adding two assists.  The Outlaws will travel to Ohio to take on the Machine Saturday, May 4, at 8:00 PM. The Charlotte Hounds are headed to Rochester on Sunday, May 5, each team seeking their first win of the 2013 season.

Chesapeake Bayhawks 17 - Rochester Rattlers 14 (Al Lang Stadium, St. Petersburg, Fla.)

WATCH: Game Highlights

The Chesapeake Bayhawks held the Rochester Rattlers scoreless in the fourth quarter to grab a 17-14 opening weekend win on Saturday night. This tight battle was played at Historic Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg, Fla., making it the first ever MLL game in the Tampa Bay area. Almost 4,000 fans witnessed Player of the Game, and Warrior Offensive Player of the Week, Kyle Dixon match and break MLL records. His three two-point goals matched the MLL single-game record, previously set by himself in May of 2012. He also raised his individual MLL career record for two-point goals to 50. Midfielder Matt Striebel led the way for the Rattlers, connecting on two two-point goals. Catch the Bayhawks this Saturday, May 4, at their home opener when they take on the New York Lizards, at 7:00 PM. Rochester will play host to Charlotte on Sunday, May 5, game time set for 3:00 PM.

Sunday, April 28

New York Lizards 14 – Boston Cannons 11 (Shuart Stadium, Hempstead, N.Y.)

WATCH: Game Highlights

The New York Lizards grabbed a second quarter lead, and held on tight to secure a 14-11 win Sunday afternoon, in their 2013 home opener. Player of the Game, Tommy Palasek found the back of the net three times, and handed out two helpers for the Lizards. Warrior Defensive Player of the Week, Greg Gurenlian, grabbed 21 out of 28 face-offs to notch a .750 win percentage. Paul Rabil ripped in four goals for the Cannons, and Ari Sussman added three. New York travels to Chesapeake to take on the Bayhawks this Saturday, May 4, at 7:00 PM. Boston will debut at Harvard Stadium this Saturday, May 4, hosting the Hamilton Nationals at 7:00 PM.
