Withersby Named Official Band of Championship Weekend

March 17, 2016
BOSTON, Mass. - Withersby, a New York City based band, has been named the official band of the 2012 MLL Championship Weekend. The band will be performing live in the Fan Zone at Harvard Stadium in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26.

Withersby mixes the rhyming style of hip-hop with the acoustic sounds of folk rock to create a unique genre. Led by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Kevin Madden, Withersby features talented vocalist Dan Altano, and guitarist/djembe player, Dan Sullivan, to form an upbeat musical style. They previously performed at the 2011 All-Star Game at Harvard Stadium and are excited to return to the MLL stage during Championship Weekend.

“The [2011 MLL] All-Star game was a blast. Just being a part of a cool event like that was awesome,” says lead singer Dan Altano. “When we were asked to join Championship Weekend this year we agreed instantly. Being back in the Fan Zone rocking out in front of all the MLL fans is an opportunity no band should pass up.”

Withersby was formed under the direction of Madden and Altano, who grew up together in Ridgewood, New Jersey. They were inspired by the interesting style of famous American band, Sublime, and created the band, Midfall Drive in 2007. Midfall Drive became popular on the New York City music scene before splitting up in October 2009. However, Madden and Altano were determined to continue their musical careers and began performing as a duo before adding Dan Sullivan to the group in 2010 to form Withersby. The NYC-based group now performs in small and large venues throughout the east coast and considers its strong fan support similar to Major League Lacrosse’s.

“When we looked out into the crowd during the All-Star game last year what struck us the most was how passionate the fans were,” Altano says. “We get a similar feeling when we see that same passion from our fans and it's fun to have them go along with you as you evolve.”

To say thank you for the continued support Withersby has gotten from Major League Lacrosse fans, they have made their Live Demo free to download on from now until Championship Weekend. In addition, every fan who likes the official Withersby Facebook page from now until Championship Weekend will receive an exclusive download off their new album, scheduled to be released in November.

About Withersby

Singer/songwriters Kevin Madden and Dan Altano have been writing music together for over ten years. They aim to tell stories through their songs which can often be humorous and satirical but are always poignant and catchy. MC/Vocalist Dan Altano says this about the band's eclectic style: "We write songs that come from a place of truth and whichever style of music comes out of that process so be it."
