Bayhawks at Outlaws 2018
DENVER (May 13, 2018) – The Chesapeake Bayhawks posted 13 points in the third quarter and squeezed out a 24-22 win against the Denver Outlaws on Sunday at Sports Authority Field.
Steele Stanwick, Myles Jones and Josh Byrne all recorded six points for the Bayhawks in their highest scoring game of the season.
Both teams traded scores for much of the game, entering the half tied 8-8. Chesapeake exploded for 13 goals in the third quarter, including five straight to close the quarter. It marked the most points posted by an MLL team in any single quarter in league history. The previous record was 12 points by the 2004 Philadelphia Barrage and 2007 Rochester Rattlers.
The Outlaws pulled to within one point, scoring five straight in the fourth quarter. Stanwick sealed the Bayhawks’ win with his fifth goal with 16 seconds on the clock in regulation.
PLAYERS OF NOTE
- Myles Jones tallied six points (3 goals, 2 assists), his second straight six-point night.
- In his first game of the season, Josh Byrne had four goals and two assists.
- Matt Kavanagh’s 7 point night (5 goals, 2 assists) is his second seven-point game of the season, and fourth of six or more. He also scored his 50th career goal on his second goal of the night.
- Drew Snider had a career-high six goals in his 80th career game.
