Cannons at Bayhawks 2018

ANNAPOLIS, MD – On Monday, July 2, the Chesapeake Bayhawks (6-2) will look to extend their five game winning streak at home, when facing the Boston Cannons. The Cannons (3-6) are coming off a strong win against rivals, the New York Lizards last week, led by Cockerton and Williams .

The Cannons and Bayhawks met back on May 19th in front of a sell-out crowd in Boston. The Cannons quickly hopped out to an 8-4 lead at the end of the first half, however the Bayhawks' strong second half allowed for a successful comeback to beat the Cannons 14-11.

“The key for me is confidence, getting some good looks and goals early,” said Cannons’ Cockerton after the win against the Lizards. “I think we were able to do that and it takes the pressure off right from there. The key is to keep grinding and when you miss a couple of shots, stay focused, stay confident and keep playing your game, and eventually they will go in.”

“I expect another close, hard-fought game. Boston plays good really good defense and so do we,” Bayhawks’  Cottle said. “Certainly, the faceoff competition is going to be really important in this one. Possession will be paramount.”

Monday night’s game will be a combination of recognition and celebration as the Chesapeake Bayhawks pay tribute to the victims of Thursday’s shooting at the Capital Gazette Newspaper offices while kicking off the Fourth of July holiday with a post-game concert and fireworks display.
