Cannons at Outlaws 2018

DENVER - All MLL eyes and ears will be pointed a mile high on the Fourth of July as the Denver Outlaws (6-4) host the Boston Cannons (3-7). The 13th annual Mile High Fourth of July fireworks game, presented by Xcel Energy, begins at Broncos Stadium at Mile High at 7 p.m. MDT/9 p.m. EDT.

After beginning the 2018 campaign with a 1-4 mark, the Outlaws have now won five games in a row to move into third place. The Cannons, coming off a 15-8 Monday night loss to the Bayhawks, are 2-2 in their last four games after struggling with a 1-5 record to open the season.

Fireworks on the field also are a certainty as former Cannons' attackman Kylor Bellistri, who has tallied 16 times in six games since arriving in Denver, will attempt to upstage his former teammates. Outlaws' leading scorer Eric Law has 26 goals and 15 assists, while Matt Kavanagh has 25 goals and 10 assists. Chris Cloutier, who was selected 29th overall in the MLL draft in April, has been a revelation for the Outlaws since arriving from the Univ. of North Carolina. The sturdy attacker has 18 goals and 9 assists in just four games. Cloutier and middie Drew Snider lead MLL in power-play goals with five each.

Former University of Denver star and the 2018 No. 1 overall draft pick, Trevor Baptiste, returns to Denver for the first time as a pro. He has won 53 percent of his faceoffs and has scored three goals in his first four MLL games. Denver's Max Adler, who played collegiately at Bentley in Waltham, Mass., will likely be Baptiste's rival at the faceoff-X. Adler has won 57 percent of his faceoffs in four games.

James Pannell (20), Mark Cockerton (14), Zed Williams (13), Sergio Perkovic (10) and Max Seibald (8) lead the Cannons balanced offensive attack in goals. Former Johns Hopkins star Shack Stanwick scored two goals in his MLL debut at Chesapeake. Defender Brodie Merrill will move to within 13 games of the all-time MLL record for games played.

More than 10,000 fireworks rounds will be ignited and paired with a music video tribute on the stadium’s ThunderVision screen. Thunderstorm, the official skydiving team of the Denver Broncos, also will make a night jump into the stadium.

The game can be streamed live on the Lax Sports Network (LSN).
