The Big Picture: The Hamilton Nationals will visit the Long Island Lizards on Saturday, July 21st at 7 p.m. ET. The Nationals are 3-7 after going 1-1 against the expansion Ohio Machine last weekend. The Lizards hope to continue their momentum from their 14-11 victory over the Boston Cannons last Saturday.
Hamilton Nationals: The Hamilton Nationals hopes for a return to the MLL Championship Game are in jeopardy as they can be eliminated from the play-offs with a loss to the Lizards this weekend. Heach Coach Regy Thorpe says his team is fired up and staying focused on the process. "Good balance, finishing on offense, and control of the midfield are keys to a win for us this weekend," says Thorpe.
In the Nationals win last weekend over the Machine in game 2 of their double header, reigning MLL Offensive Player of the Week Garrett Billings led the team with 3 goals and 2 assists. Cody Jamieson also netted 3 goals and added an assist.
Players to Watch: Midfielder Joe Walters has played in only seven of ten games this season, but leads the Nationals with 30 points on 12 goals, including a 2-pointer, and 17 assists. Face-off specialist Matt Dolente will go up against "The Beast" Greg Gurenlian after winning 39 of 56 face-offs last weekend in the Nationals' double header with the Machine. On defense, watch for MLL’s all-time leader in ground balls, Brodie Merrill. The veteran has continued his effective play this season but will have his hands full trying to contain a potent Lizards offense.

Long Island Lizards: The Lizards look to maintain their 3rd place spot in the league over the Boston Cannons, which would secure them a trip to MLL Championship Weekend. "We're in a must-win situation this weekend to keep us from relying on losses elsewhere in the league," says Head Coach Joe Spallina.
The Lizards were led by veteran Greg Gurenlian in their win over the Cannons last weekend. Gurenlian went 19 for 28 at the X, scooped up 10 groundballs, and netted one goal. Stephen Peyser also contribued three goals and one assist to the victory.
Players to Watch: CJ Costabile was named MLL Cascade Rookie of the Week for his play in last weekend's win over the Cannons. He held Paul Rabil to zero goals in a game for only the third time in Rabil's MLL career. Rookie Matt Gibson has transformed the Long Island offense, putting up 23 points in 8 games, which has him ranked third on the team in scoring. Midfielders Brian Langtry and Max Seibald are ranked one and two respectively in points for the Lizards. Goaltender Drew Adams continues to lead the Lizards defensively from between the pipes as he is ranked second in the league in save percentage.

MLL will host its 2012 Championship Weekend presented by Warrior on August 25 and 26 at Harvard Stadium in Boston, Mass.
