At the X presented by The Faceoff Academy

Week 8 featured some thrilling games and crucial matchups at the X, and all those face offs resulted in a new top FOGO. Last week proved that one game can change everything, and that no one on our leaderboard is ever safe. Will the new leader be able to maintain his spot at the top for the rest of the season? Check back each week in “At the X, presented by The Faceoff Academy.”

1. Chris Eck — Boston Cannons (120-for-199)

Eck is continuing to have another impressive year, and his 22-for-34 performance last week in Boston’s win against Ohio was enough to move him back into first place, a title he last held in Week 4. Eck, a member of Team USA, has won almost 70% of his face offs over the last two games, and he doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.

2. Greg Gurenlian — New York Lizards (126-for-212)

Gurenlian isn’t in the top spot this week, but that doesn’t mean his performance at the X has regressed in any way. He won 15 of 27 face offs last week for New York en route to a 14-12 win over Charlotte. He’ll be joining Eck on Team USA at the MLL All-Star Game this Thursday, so it will be exciting to see what that team can do when they have their choice between two of the league’s best face off specialists.

3. Anthony Kelly — Denver Outlaws (108-for-195)

Kelly won 12 of the 18 face offs he took last week, and that advantage proved to be highly important in Denver’s low-scoring victory over Chesapeake. Kelly, the most successful FOGO in league history, was chosen to be part of Team MLL, which means he’ll likely be lining up against either Eck or Gurenlian on Thursday night. These matchups don’t happen often in the regular season, so it will certainly be a can’t-miss moment at the All-Star Game.

Here are the best of the rest: the cumulative ranking of the top 10 guys to take at least 30 face offs for their team this season.
