Hours before the trade deadline, the Florida Launch shipped All-Star midfielder Kevin Crowley and a future 2015 4th round Draft selection to the Chesapeake Bayhawks in exchange for the midfield trio of Steven Brooks, David Earl, and Jon Hayes.
Crowley, the reigning Warrior MLL MVP, leads all Florida midfielders with 17 points in eight games played.
Brooks, Earl, and Hayes have combined for 17 points this season.
Chesapeake receives an immediate offensive weapon in Crowley, who posted 38 goals a season ago. The Team Canada member’s production has been down this season for the expansion Launch club, yet he still remained third on the team in scoring.
Brooks has run on the Bayhawks second midfield line and seen his numbers fall this season, netting just seven goals. Chesapeake acquired Earl from New York in a June 23rd trade for Michael Kimmel. Earl’s scoring has increased in Chesapeake, recording three points in the past two weeks. Jon Hayes, an experienced defensive midfielder, who spent his first four seasons in Boston, has played one game this season for the Bayhawks.
Florida (4-6) sits one game behind Boston (5-5) for the final MLL playoff spot. Chesapeake (3-7) is at the bottom of the standings, but remains eligible for the playoffs as well.
This move was the lone trade as the 4:00 PM deadline came-and-went on Tuesday afternoon.
