Charlotte Hounds at Ohio Machine

Due to the 2014 FIL World Lacrosse Championships on July 10-July 19 in Denver, CO there were no MLL games played last week. This weekend the Charlotte Hounds (4-6) are looking to claim their first road win this season. While the Ohio Machine (4-6) want another win on their home turf of Selby Stadium.
Last Time Out:
Charlotte: The Charlotte Hounds fell to the Rochester Rattlers 15-13 at home last July 5. Even though Charlotte fought till the end the Hounds were unable to come out on top and continue to not be able to win on the road.
Ohio: The Ohio Machine had an uplifting 16-14 win over the Chesapeake Bayhawks on their home turf. This win allowed the Machine to pull out of last place in the MLL standings.
Unlucky on the Road: The Charlotte Hounds are without a road win this season so far. With playoffs just around the corner the Hounds are coming to Selby Stadium hungry for a win.
A New Look at the X: Charlotte Hounds faceoff specialist Brendan Fowler is going for a new look, which means no more flow. Fowler has donated 10 inches of his hair to the Locks of Love organization, a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under 21 years of old who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
FIL World Lacrosse Championships:Due to the FIL World Lacrosse Championships being played some players from the Hounds and the Machine will be missing in Saturday’s matchup. Hounds faceoff specialist Geoff Snider will represent Team Canada. For the Machine midfielder Kyle Harrison and attackman Marcus Holman will be absent while they represent Team USA. Additionally Ohio rookie Tom Schreiber is still in Denver coaching Team Uganda
‘Blackout Polio’:The Ohio Machine will not be wearing their usual Blue jerseys in their game against the Denver Outlaws on July 26. Instead the Machine will be sporting all-black jerseys to support one of their proud sponsors Rotary International whose mission is to end Polio. After the game each Machine player will autograph their own jersey and a team-signed jersey. These items will be auctioned online from July 28 at 3 p.m. EST till August 7 at 3 p.m. EST. Players to Watch:
Charlotte: Rookie attackman Justin Ward led the Charlotte Hounds in points with 3 goals and 1 assist last Saturday night against the Rochester Rattlers. He fought to the end by scoring a goal in the final minute of the game.
Ohio: Midfielder Peter Baum helped the Machine escape a two-goal deficit in the second half by scoring consecutive goals. Baum tallied a total of 3 points, with 2 goals and 1 assist. Machine defensemen Brian Farrell was named the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week due to his impressive defensive contributions. He tallied a game-high five groundballs. Farrell also had a goal and 1 assist.
Charlotte: Attackmen Mike Sawyer and Justin Ward are leading the Charlotte Hounds in points with 23. Sawyer has 18 goals, while Ward has 9.
Ohio: Midfielder Peter Baum and attackman Marcus Holman leads the Machine in points with 33. Baum continues to lead in goals with 28. Marcus Holman has 22 goals and is ranked 8th on the MLL Scoring Leaders. Holman leads the Machine in groundballs with 20.
2013 Season Series:
The Charlotte Hounds beat the Ohio Machine in both 2013 match-ups, 13-7 and 13-10, to sweep the series.
· The Hounds, Machine, and the Florida Launch are all tied for fifth on the MLL standings.
· The Charlotte Hounds are 0-4 on the road.
