Denver Outlaws at Ohio Machine

With the buzz about postseason in the air the Denver Outlaws are searching for a win to secure a spot in the 2014 MLL playoffs, while the Ohio Machine are looking for another win on their home turf of Selby Stadium.
Last Time Out:
Ohio: Last Saturday the Machine had an exciting 13-12 overtime win over the Charlotte Hounds at Selby Stadium.
Denver: The Denver Outlaws defeated the Florida Launch 13-10. This win put the Outlaws back into a tie for first place next to the Rochester Rattlers on the MLL standings.
‘Blackout Polio’: The Ohio Machine will not be wearing their usual Blue jerseys in this weekend’s game against the Denver Outlaws. Instead the Machine will be sporting all-black jerseys to support one of their proud sponsors Rotary International whose mission is to end Polio. After the game each Machine player will autograph their own jerseys and a team-signed jersey. These items will be auctioned online from July 28 at 3 p.m. ET till August 7 at 3 p.m. ET. Burn Cancer Week: From July 31 through August 2, MLL players and coaches will be sporting the electric lime green color in support of the HEADStrong Foundation and to raise awareness for all forms of blood cancers. Players will be wearing lime green shoelaces, while the MLL coaches will sport lime green shirts. Seven Outlaws Win Gold: At the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships last Saturday seven Denver Outlaw players were awarded a gold medal after Team Canada defeated Team USA 8-5 in Commerce City, Colorado. These seven players include: Canada assistant coach John Grant, Curtis Dickson, Cam Flint, Zack Greer, Cam Holding, Jeremy Noble, and Dillon Roy.
Players to Watch:
Ohio: Machine players Peter Baum, Logan Schuss, Tom Schreiber, and Derek Maltz each had four points against the Charlotte Hounds. However, it was rookie Derek Maltz who stole the show with 4 goals in his MLL debut. Due to his offensive contribution he earned the Cascade Rookie of the Week.
Denver: Due to the Florida Launch being dominant in the second quarter Goalie Charlie Cipriano replaced Jesse Schwartzman earning Coca-Cola Player of the Game and Warrior Defensive Player of the Week for his impressive performance off the bench. Attackman John Grant tallied a total of 6 points, 4 goals and 2 assists against the Launch. Midfielder Jimmy Sieverts had a total of 5 points, 1 goal, 1 2-pt goal, and 3 assists.
Ohio: Midfielder Peter Baum leads the Machine in points with 37. Baum also continues to lead in goals with 29. He is ranked 7th on the MLL Scoring Leaders. Behind Baum is Marcus Holman who is ranked 10th with 33 points.
Denver: Ranked 5th on the MLL Scoring Leaders attackman Eric Law leads the Denver Outlaws in points with 41. Law also continues to lead the Outlaws in goals with 29. Ranked 6th on the MLL Scoring Leaders is Jeremy Sieverts who has tallied 38 points so far this season. He has 11 goals. Attackman John Grant leads the Outlaws in assists with 17.
2013 Season Series:
The Denver Outlaws beat the Ohio Machine in both 2013 match-ups, 13-8 and 19-5, to sweep the series.
· The Ohio Machine are tied at fourth on the MLL standings with the Boston Cannons.
· Denver clinches playoff spot with a win or with a loss to Ohio and a Boston loss or also with a loss to Ohio by 1 point.
