Denver Outlaws at Chesapeake Bayhawks

The Denver Outlaws are looking for a win this weekend in order to help them secure homefield advantage in the 2014 playoffs. While the Chesapeake Bayhawks are coming off a victorious win against the New York Lizards last weekend however, the Bayhawks have been eliminated from all playoff contention.
Last Time Out:
Denver:The Denver Outlaws clinched MLL playoff spot despite the 23-22 overtime loss to the Ohio Machine last weekend at Selby Stadium.
Chesapeake:Even though the Bayhawks were quiet at the beginning of the game they were able to come from behind and defeat the New York Lizards 12-11.
Burn Cancer Week:From July 31 through August 2, MLL coaches and select players will be sporting the electric lime green color in support of the HEADStrong Foundation and to raise awareness for all forms of blood cancers. Players will be wearing lime green shoelaces, while the MLL coaches will sport lime green shirts.

Holding Down the Fort: Chesapeake Goaltender Tyler Fiorito has been outstanding in the cage while filling in for starting goalie Kip Turner who has been out recovering from a broken thumb. Fiorito was named Warrior Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Bayhawks to a 12-11 win over the Lizards. He had a career-high 15 saves on 26 shots, a .577 save percentage.
Players to Watch:
Denver: Despite Denver’s loss, attackman John Grant Jr. finished the game with 6 goals and 3 assists. Attackman Chris Bocklet finished with 4 goals and 1 assist.
Chesapeake: Goaltender Tyler Fiorito had an outstanding game against the New York Lizards. He had a career high of 15 saves and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player and Warrior Defensive Player of the Week. Midfielder Joe Walters tallied 2 goals and 2 assists. Defensemen Jesse Bernhardt finished with 2 goals, 1 2-point goal, and an assist.
Denver:Attackman Eric Law leads the team in points (44), goals (30), and assists (14). Attackman John Grant and midfielder Jeremy Sieverts both have 43 points. Faceoff specialist Anthony Kelly leads the Outlaws in ground balls with 63 while defensemen Matt Bocklet has 52.
Chesapeake: Joe Walter leads the team in points (32), goals (13), and assists (19). Defenseman Brian Megill leads the Bayhawks in ground balls with 31.
2014 Season Series:
The Bayhawks dropped a 9-6 decision to the Outlaws at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, last June 21.
· Denver attackman John Grant Jr. is in third place, one point behind Ryan Boyle, in the race for most career points MLL history with 446.
· The Denver Outlaws have made the playoffs for the ninth time in as many years as of existence.
· The Outlaws will secure homefield advantage for the playoffs if they beat the Bayhawks AND the New York Lizards lose this weekend.
