Review: 'Power Happy' by Con Bro Chill

“Power Happy” is the latest single from Con Bro Chill, and while the video is light on lacrosse, it’s plenty heavy on feel-good, electropop beats. The band is comprised of Ohio Machine attackman Connor Martin, SAMM, Tyler Andre, and Steve Felts, and will release its latest full-length album “3D Music” at the end of this month.

The message behind the "solid riff and heavy dance beat," according to Martin, is that "life gives you all kinds of shake ups and shake downs but at the end of the day, you can choose to make your life as happy as you want."

The video was filmed over a two month period in Portland, OR, and stays true to Con Bro Chill’s recipe of neon colors, outrageous outfits, synchronized choreography and uplifting beats. The video production is the best we’ve seen from CBC, with special effects, scenic footage of waterfalls and a raging mobile dance party. “Power Happy” is reminiscent of OK Go’s famously choreographed video, “Here it Goes,” but swaps the treadmills for mini-trampolines and adds the theatrics of a 3OH!3 video.

The song itself holds its own with radio dance hits like Foster the People’s “Helena Beat” and MGMT’s “Electric Feel.” It has all the necessary ingredients to become a hit. Whether you’re warming up for a game, driving in your car, or hanging out with friends, MLL recommends “Power Happy” to everyone with a solid A+.
