Rochester Rattlers midfielder and MLL legend Matt Striebel is the only player to compete in every MLL season since the league's inception and could tie the MLL record for most games played tonight. The 5-4 Rochester Rattlers will take on the 7-2 Chesapeake Bayhawks at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3. The current record is held by Tim Goettelmann, who retired at the end of last season, with 132 games played. Striebel enters tonight's game with 131 career games under his belt.
Next week, Striebel will look to break the record for all-time games played in the league when the Rattlers take on the Hounds.
Striebel played his first eight seasons with the Barrage ('01 - '08) and for the Chicago Machine from '09 to '10. He is in his second season with the Rochester Rattlers. A three-time Steinfeld Trophy winner (’04, ’06, ’07), Striebel is also a MLL Championship Game MVP. He is a five-time MLL All-Star and a three-time member of the US National Team (2x Gold Medalist).
During his time at Princeton, the team qualified for the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship all four years, reached the championship game three times, won the championship game twice and won four Ivy League championships. He was a two-time honorable mention United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American and three-time All-Ivy League selection (once first team, twice second team). He was also an All-Ivy league performer in soccer and earned Princeton co-athlete of the year honors as a senior.
