Week 12 Playoff Scenarios


In Week 11, the Chesapeake Bayhawks became the first team to clinch a 2012 playoff spot while three other teams were eliminated from the running. The two expansion teams were eliminated; the Ohio Machine after an 11-7 loss to the No. 1 Chesapeake Bayhawks and the Charlotte Hounds after a 14-5 loss to the Rochester Rattlers. The Hamilton Nationals were also eliminated after falling to the Long Island Lizards 19-12. Here are the current standings and a team-by-team look at what could unfold in Week 12.

What Can Happen in Week 12

Boston Cannons

Nothing can be decided this week for the Boston Cannons. The team is coming off of a 17-13 loss against the Denver Outlaws and will next face the No. 1 seed Chesapeake Bayhawks who are playing for bragging rights after clinching a playoff spot last week. 

Next Game: The Cannons will host the Chesapeake Bayhawks this Saturday, July 28 at Harvard Stadium at 2 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live on ESPN2.  

Charlotte Hounds

The expansion Charlotte Hounds were eliminated in Week 11 after a 14-5 loss to the Rochester Rattlers. The Hounds will play two games on the road before playing their final home game at American Legion Memorial Stadium. 

Next Game: The Hounds will travel to face the Long Island Lizards this Saturday, July 28 at Shuart Stadium at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live locally and on CBS Sports Network

Chesapeake Bayhawks

In Week 11, the No. 1 Bayhawks became the first team to clinch a 2012 playoff berth with an 11-7 win over the expansion Ohio Machine. The Bayhawks are now 9-2 and will travel to Boston in Week 12 before playing their final two games at home. 

Next Game: The Bayhawks will travel to face the Boston Cannons at Harvard Stadium this Saturday, July 28 at 2 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live on ESPN2.

Denver Outlaws

The No. 2 Denver Outlaws can clinch a playoff spot with a win and losses by either Boston or Rochester. Denver would move to 9-3 and be three games ahead of either Boston or Rochester, if one of those teams lost, with two weeks remaining.

Next Game: The Outlaws will travel to face the Hamilton Nationals this Saturday, July 28 at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live on ESPN3.

Hamilton Nationals

The Nationals were eliminated in Week 11 following a 19-12 loss to the Long Island Lizards. They are now 3-8 and will play their final three games at home. 

Next Game: The Hamilton Nationals will host the Denver Outlaws this Saturday, July 28 at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live on ESPN3.

Long Island Lizards

The Lizards can clinch a playoff spot with a win and a Boston loss in Week 12. A win would move them to 8-4 and they hold the tie-breaker over Boston (2-0, head-to-head) with two games remaining. The team will host the expansion Hounds, who have been eliminated, this week.

Next Game: The Long Island Lizards will host the Charlotte Hounds at Shuart Stadium this Saturday, July 28 at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live on CBS Sports Network

Ohio Machine

The Ohio Machine were eliminated in Week 11 after a 11-7 loss against the Chesapeake Bayhawks. The Machine are 2-9 on the season and will travel to play the Rattlers in Week 12.

Next Game: The Machine will travel to take on the Rochester Rattlers this Saturday at 7 p.m. The game will be televised live locally and on ESPN3.

Rochester Rattlers

Nothing will be decided for the Rochester Rattlers in Week 12. The team will have home field advantage in three of their four remaining regular season games and with a 4-1 record at home this season (2-4 on the road), the Rattlers will push for a playoff spot.

Next Game: The Rattlers will host the Ohio Machine this Saturday, July 28 at Sahlen’s Stadium at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be televised live locally and on ESPN3.

Note: As standings change each week, so do the tie-breakers; scenarios from one week are not necessarily the same the next week.


MLL will host its 2012 Championship Weekend presented by Warrior on August 25 and 26 at Harvard Stadium in Boston, Mass. It will be a battle of the top four teams and will include two semi-final games on Saturday followed by the championship game on Sunday. Tickets are available now via Ticketmaster.com.
