Michael Redler returns as Orthopaedic Consultant for Draft

Boston, MA– Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced today that Michael R. Redler, MD will continue to serve as MLL’s Orthopaedic Consultant for the 2010 Warrior Major League Challenge on Sunday, June 6th at Yale University.

The Warrior Major League Challenge is an invitation only event for approximately 25 of the top college seniors as they will face-off against the US Men’s National Team in a full-length exhibition game at the Yale Bowl at 2:30pm Sunday.  The game, played under MLL rules will be part of Team USA’s preparation for the 2010 World Games in Manchester, England and provides a unique opportunity for the seniors to prove their worth prior to MLL coaches and GMs prior to the Draft

Dr. Redler’s chief responsibility will be to facilitate the physical examinations and monitor the players’ health throughout the day as they become part of Major League Lacrosse.

Dr. Redler is a partner with The OSM Center in Trumbull, CT. In addition to serving as the Orthopaedic Consultant for Major League Lacrosse, he is the head team physician for Sacred Heart University and their 32 Division I teams in Fairfield, Connecticut. Dr. Redler did his Orthopaedic residency and Chief Residency at the University of Virginia, along with his Sports Medicine Fellowship under the direction of Frank C. McCue III, MD. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and The American College of Sports Medicine, a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, ISAKOS, The International Society for Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

He is a clinical professor for physical therapy and athletic training at Sacred Heart University and a Visiting Assistant Professor for the University of Virginia Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition, Dr. Redler has authored numerous publications and chapters in text books on subjects in sports medicine and athletic hand injuries.

“I am thrilled and honored to continue to be the Orthopaedic consultant for Major League Lacrosse, it is a first class league and operation" Dr. Redler said. "I am looking forward to the Warrior Major League Challenge game against Team USA in conjunction with the MLL Draft that night”

During the game and physical examinations, Dr. Redler will be assisted by Steven Fries, PA-C, also from the OSM Center and the athletic training staff from Yale. Together, this staff will provide the athletes in attendance with first class treatment and care as they make the transition from college to Major League Lacrosse.

The 2010 MLL Collegiate Draft follows the Challenge Game and will air live on Universal Sports and ESPN3.com at 7:00 PM ET. The Draft will take place on the Yale campus in the Lanman Center, located inside the Payne Whitney Gymnasium.  For more information on the MLL Draft, visit www.majorleaguelacrosse.com
