MLL Power Rankings

During the 2013 MLL season, Major League Lacrosse will be using a power ranking system to show fans how their favorite team stacks up against the competition. A teams' power ranking is based on cumulative season statistics, as well as voting conducted by MLL.com's contributing writers. After raw scores from the two are combined, teams will then be rated on a scale of 1-100. That final number will represent a team's power ranking for that week.

Denver Outlaws

Another week, another win for the Outlaws. They’ve separated themselves from the rest of the pack as the best team in the league. With a game against the last place Machine this week, they shouldn’t have too much trouble moving to 8-0.

The Bayhawks were the first team to hold the Outlaws under 20 in the last three weeks. I think the Bayhawks deserve to take second place in this week's power rankings.

Hamilton Nationals

Hamilton started off so strong! And then came Denver. After a loss to the Outlaws, the Nationals lost again this past weekend to the Lizards. This gut check is going to show us what the Nationals are really made of and see if they can pull out of their slump when they face Rochester this weekend

New York Lizards

The Lizards seem to have bounced back after two tough losses against the Hounds and the Bayhawks.  With multiple goals from both Tommy Palasek and rookie Rob Pannell, the Lizards offense is definitely waking up.

Charlotte Hounds

The week seven loss to the Cannons looks bad on paper, and it certainly hurts the Hounds’playoff hopes. However, they have a chance to bounce back against one of the hottest teams in the league when they play the Bayhawks this week. Matt Danowski needs to play well for this team to be at their best.

Boston Cannons

The Cannons came out strong in week seven.  While they struggled through the first quarter, the rest of the game was all theirs against the Hounds. Boston couldn’t touch the ball without scoring, and all without the efforts of Paul Rabil. Charlotte channeled their efforts into covering Rabil, which provided an opportunity for the rest of the Cannons’offense to send the ball between the pipes. Mike Stone’s natural hat trick and total of four goals are a promising sign for the Cannons.

Rochester Rattlers

Rochester’s shining star is still goaltender John Galloway. The veteran netminder has the ability to keep his team in a game by making an incredible number of saves. If the Rattlers can get their offensive weapons all clicking together, then they will be tough to stop. For now, they haven’t quite figured it all out.

Finally got the win out of the way, and their offense finally looked like an offense! Has a long way to go, and will have to be near perfect for a playoff opportunity.
