Saturday, July 6, 7:30 ET – Selby Stadium, Delaware, Ohio

Notes: Ohio - Chesapeake

The Ohio Machine wraps up a two-game homestand on Saturday when the Chesapeake Bayhawks visit Selby Stadium for a 7:30 match up in the last game before the All-Star break.

Ohio enters the game with a 1-8 record after losing its last two games after earning its first victory of the season in a 13-11 win over the Rochester Rattlers on June 15. Despite a roster loaded with young talent, the Machine has struggled to score goals this season, averaging only seven goals per game.

Attackman Steele Stanwick leads the way for the Machine with seven goals and 14 assists on the year. His strong play has earned the second-year man his first All-Star Selection.

The Ohio offense is also bolstered by midfielder Joe Cummings, who has 13 goals and 4 assists on the season. Rookies Logan Schuss and Marcus Holman have also played key roles for the Machine so far, with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Schuss had a breakout game in Saturday’s loss to the Boston Cannons, scoring five goals and dishing out an assist in a six-point effort.

On the defensive end, the Machine sits at sixth in the league with a 13.11 goals against average. Ohio is led by defenseman Kyle Hartzell, who has been selected to his second consecutive All-Star Game.

Chesapeake comes into the game with a 5-4 record, putting them firmly in the playoff hunt, and is coming off a 17-10 win over second-place Hamilton on Saturday night.

Defensively, the Bayhawks could give the inconsistent Ohio fits, as All-Star goalie Kip Turner is giving up only 9.63 goals per game while stopping 61 percent of shots faced, both of which are tops in the league. Defenders Barney Ehrmann and Michael Evans have also both been selected as All-Stars.

On the other end of the field, Drew Westervelt leads a potent Chesapeake offense with 21 goals and six assists on the season, while fellow All-Star attackman Ben Rubeor has 19 goals and five assist. Adding to the versatility of the Bayhawks offense, midfielder Kyle Dixon has a team-leading 15 assists and four two-point goals, helping him to his fifth All-Star Game.

Matt Abbott and Steven Brooks will join Dixon at the midfield in the All-Star Game.

Both teams will get next weekend off for All-Star weekend. The All-Stars mentioned above can be seen in the MLL All-Star Game presented by Moe’s Southwest Grill on Saturday, July 13, at 7:00 pm in Charlotte, N.C. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Chesapeake will return to action on Thursday, June 18, when it plays host to the Boston Cannons in a 7:30(ET) matchup that will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network. The Machine will travel to Hamilton to face off against the Nationals on Saturday, July 20 for a 7:30 game that will be broadcast exclusively on YouTube.com/MLL
