The Chesapeake Bayhawks return home to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md., when they host the Boston Cannons on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live nationally on CBS Sports Network following ‘Inside the MLL’ at 7:00 p.m. Both teams look to continue winning streaks in hopes of a playoff run.
The Bayhawks rest in third place with a 6-4 record, while the Cannons follow close behind in fourth with a 5-5 record.
The Bayhawks are in the middle of a two game win streak after a 17-10 win over Hamilton in week nine and a 13-12 win over the Ohio Machine in week 10. The surge has been led by Drew Westervelt who has recorded five goals and one assist and Matt Mackrides who has netted five and dished three assists. Kip Turner has been solid between the pipes saving 23 shots and only allowing 20 goals in the last two games.
The Cannons are undefeated since John Tucker took over the reins of the club, the last loss coming in week six from the Rattlers. Boston has been led thus far by Paul Rabil, recording 14 points in the last four games (10g, 4a). In his last performance he netted five goals and three assists becoming the Cannons all-time points’ leader. Rookie Will Manny hasn’t been afraid to get in the mix as well recording 15 points in the last four games (7g, 8a).
The last the time these two teams met, the game was decided in overtime with a goal from the Cannons’ Ryan Boyle. Chesapeake was led by John Grant Jr. who recorded five goals and one assist while the Cannons were led by Paul Rabil who had four goals including one 2 pt goal and an assist.
Next the Bayhawks will travel to Denver to play the Outlaws July 27, a game that will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN 2. The Cannons will head north of the border to play in the MLL’s youtube game of the week against the Hamilton Nationals on the same night.
