Ohio Machine at Hamilton Nationals
Saturday, July 20 – 7:30 p.m. (ET) Ron Joyce Stadium, Hamilton, Ontario
The Ohio Machine (1-9) will visit the Hamilton Nationals (7-3) to try to keep their playoff hopes alive in MLL’s YouTube game of the week Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the Machine and Nationals. After splitting the series in 2012, Hamilton took the lead with a 16-9 victory in May in Ohio. Joe Walters’s seven-point game and Kevin Crowley’s career-high five goals helped the Nationals to the win.
Last weekend, five Hamilton players and two Ohio players represented their teams in the All-Star Game. Crowley was named MVP for his three goals and two assists. The Machine’s Steele Stanwick also put up five points for Team Supernova with a goal and four assists.
In Week 10, Crowley was also named player of the game in Hamilton’s win over Rochester for his five-point game. Crowley now sits in second in the League for goals with 29 and third for points with 41; he holds a franchise-best 25 consecutive game point streak.
The Nationals’ Walters and Kevin Cunningham are also among the best in the League. Walters is first in assists with 18, and Cunningham is just one behind his teammate with 17. With 15 assists, Ohio’s Stanwick is tied for fourth in the League.
Ohio also saw offensive success in Week 10 with three different players recording four points. Joe Cummings notched four goals, Logan Schuss had three goals and an assist, and Kiel Matisz scored a goal and three assists.
Hamilton goalie Brett Queener is first in the League for save percentage (.615), owning a decisive advantage over Brian Phipps (.522). However, both goalies played well in Week 10 with Queener making 16 saves and Phipps racking up 17.
Next Saturday both teams will be at home facing opponents at 7 p.m. The Cannons will square off against the Nationals on YouTube, and the Hounds will face Ohio on ESPN3.
