ALL-STAR WATCH: Denver Outlaws

The Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game, Thursday, June 26 at Harvard Stadium, is fast approaching, and with it, predictions for who will make the cut are proliferating. Team MLL will be announced Tuesday, June 10, and until then, we will preview who we believe to be worthy of donning an All-Star Jersey. Be sure to check out the MLL All-Star Game event page for tickets and information.

Which of the Outlaws will make the cut for the MLL All-Stars this year is a toss-up, as Denver holds some of the strongest players in the league. Based on both this year and last year’s success, there are two players who seem likely to fit the All-Star part: Jeremy Sieverts and Eric Law.

Midfielder Sieverts is no stranger to the All-Star game, having participated the last two years. After an outstanding 2013 season, Sieverts entered the 2014 season with more accolades and accomplishments then ever. Sieverts is a force on the offensive end of the field, currently tied for second for points per game, and is first for two-pointers (3) in the league. After playing on the All-Star team for two straight years and earning his first All-MLL honor in 2013, a third consecutive appearance on the All-Star team seams likely.

While a three-peat appearance at the All-Star game is impressive, often it is more exciting not only to see who is re-invited to the games, but who makes it for the first time. Law, now playing in his second year for the MLL, has become a key player for the Outlaws. He is tearing up the net this season, averaging three or more goals per game. After his phenomenal rookie season last year where he started his career with four straight hat tricks, scoring on his first nine MLL shots, and claiming two Rookie of the Week and three Player of the Game awards, Law’s presence and importance on the Denver field comes as no surprise. Currently third in the league and first for Denver for overall points and goals, Law is looking to make his debut on this year’s All-Star team. With a fellow seasoned All-Star Outlaw at his side, this rookie would feel right at home.

On the other side of the field Drew Snider will be staring down his Denver teammates, sporting red, white and blue on his jersey as he is on the 30-man roster for Team USA. Having played for the MLL’s 2013 All-Star team, Snider knows what to expect from his opponents.

He finished his second season sixth in the league with 31 goals and received the MLL’s 2013 Most Improved Player of the Year award. Snider and his rapid growth and success made him an easy choice for Team USA. Currently in fifth place for the Outlaws, with nine points, seven goals, and two assists, and fifth on his team for ground balls, Snider is a well-rounded midfielder who will execute in 50-50 situations and in front of the net.

Team MLL will faceoff against Team USA June 26th at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Mass. showcasing some of the world’s best lacrosse in action and in a skills competition.
