MARK MILLON TO MISS REMAINDER OF 2007 SEASON

BOSTON, Mass. – Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional lacrosse league, has announced that Washington Bayhawks attackman Mark Millon will miss the remainder of the 2007 season, effective immediately, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross

A seven-year MLL veteran, he has played five-plus seasons for the Bayhawks and played one year for Boston , helping the Cannons win the 2005 American Division title. Millon currently ranks as the league’s all-time leader in points (349), goals (235) and hat tricks (45). In addition, he ranks fourth all-time with 110 career assists, including a career-high 23 assists during the 2003 season.

“During this MLL pre-season, I prepared as hard as ever with my strength and conditioning coach and was fully committed to play my seventh season with the Bayhawks,” Millon said. “However, what I did not take into account was that my work commitments have doubled since last season. Along with my increasing summer camp work, it has made it difficult for me to put in the necessary focus and dedication that the team and the fans deserve.”

“This was a difficult decision for me, especially with all that playing in the league has done for me,” Millon continued. “I want to thank MLL commissioner Dave Gross, Jake Steinfeld and the other League founders for creating this league in 2000 and for allowing me and other lacrosse players the opportunity to showcase our talents.”

A five-time MLL All-Star selection, Millon was named as the Bud Light Co-MVP in 2005 after leading the Boston Cannons to their second straight American Division title. He won the 2002 MLL Championship with the Bayhawks and was named as the Bud Light Most Valuable Player in the 2002 MLL Championship Game, which Baltimore won by a 21-13 margin.

Prior to the season, Millon had appeared in all 75 regular season games during his first six seasons and played in eight postseason games, including three MLL Championship Games.

A three-time All-America selection at the University of Massachusetts, Millon scored 155 goals and had 58 assists in his collegiate career and was named as the MVP of the 1993 USILA North-South All-Star Game.

Currently 2-1 on the season, the Bayhawks host the New Jersey Pride on Saturday afternoon at the Multi-Sport Field at Georgetown University at 4:00 p.m.
