Key Players Renew Contracts


DIXON, STRIEBEL, SCHWARTZMAN AND OTHER KEY PLAYERS

RENEW CONTRACTS FOR 2011 MLL SEASON

 

Boston, MA (February 23, 2011) –Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced the signing of several key players this week, including Kyle Dixon of the Chesapeake Bayhawks, Matt Striebel of the Rochester Rattlers, and Jesse Schwartzman of the Denver Outlaws.

Kyle Dixon, who was the second overall pick in the 2006 MLL Collegiate Draft, re-signed and will play for the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Entering his sixth season overall, Dixon will return to the Bayhawks for a second season. Last year he played in 11 regular season games and helped lead the Bayhawks to win the 2010 MLL Championship. He had 21 goals during the season and nine assists.

Matt Striebel also re-signed, agreeing to a one-year contract. He will play for the Rochester Rattlers. Entering his eleventh season overall, this will be his first season in Rochester. He was drafted in 2001 to the Bridgeport Barrage and played in Philadelphia and Chicago. Striebel played in ten regular season games with Chicago last year with 12 goals and 5 assists.

Jesse Schwartzman, goaltender for the Denver Outlaws, also re-signed for another year. The Johns Hopkins alum will enter his fifth season this year. He played in 11 regular season games last year and one post-season game. He had 147 saves.

Matt Bocklet also re-signed for another year. He will enter his third season with the Outlaws and his fourth season overall. Bocklet played in all 12 regular season games last year and one post-season game and was named to the All-MLL Team.  

Brian Spallina will enter his tenth season with Major League Lacrosse and will play defense for the Long Island Lizards. He played in eleven regular season games last year and two post-season games, losing to Chesapeake in the 2010 MLL Championship.

Shawn Nadelen also re-signed, agreeing to a one-year contract to play for the Chesapeake Bayhawks. He will enter his eleventh season overall. He only played in two regular season games last year due to a knee injury but returned in the post season, helping the Bayhawks win the 2010 MLL Championship.

Chris Eck also re-signed for another year. He will enter his fourth season with the Boston Cannons. He played in 11 regular season games last year and one post-season game and played for the 2010 MLL All Star Team. In 2009 he won MLL Most Improved.

Eric Martin re-signed. This will be his eighth season overall and his third season with the Outlaws. Last year he played in ten regular season games and one post season game. The defenseman scored three goals and had two assists throughout the season.

Cody Jamieson re-signed agreeing to a one-year contract and will enter his second season with the Nationals.
