Key Players Return for 2011 Season


CROTTY, MERRILL, GRANT JR. AND OTHER KEY PLAYERS

RENEW MLL CONTRACTS

Boston, MA (March 1, 2011) –Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced the signing of several key players this week, including Rochester Rattlers addition, Ned Crotty, Hamilton Nationals defenseman, Brodie Merrill, and Nationals attackman John Grant Jr.

Ned Crotty has re-signed with the league, agreeing to a one-year contract to play for the Rochester Rattlers. He was the first overall pick in the 2010 MLL Collegiate Draft after winning the NCAA Division I Championship with the Duke Blue Devils. The attackman played in seven games last year for the Chicago Machine, earning the title of Cascade MLL Rookie of the Year. He had 11 goals and 13 assists, earning him 24 points. He finished as the team’s third highest scorer behind only Kevin and Mike Leveille.

Brodie Merrill has also re-signed to play for the Hamilton Nationals.  This will be the defenseman’s seventh season with the league and his third season with the Nationals. He was named the Warrior Defensive Player of the Year last season, breaking the league’s record by winning the award for an unprecedented five consecutive years.  Last year he played in ten regular season games and was named to the 2010 Great Atlantic All-MLL team.

John Grant, Jr. has also re-signed and will play for the Hamilton Nationals. This is his eighth season with the league and his third season with the Nationals. Grant Jr. played in eleven games for Toronto last year and had 19 goals, four 2-pointers and 13 assists, earning him 36 points.

Geoff Snider also re-signed and will play for the Hamilton Nationals. This will be Snider’s sixth season with the league and his third season with the Nationals. He played in ten games last year with four goals, five assists and 40 ground balls.

Scott Rodgers has also re-signed, agreeing to a one-year contract to play for the Hamilton Nationals. This will be his second season with the league. The goalie played in eight games for the Nationals last year and had 76 saves.

Ryan McClay has re-signed and will enter his ninth season with the league. He played in New Jersey from 2003 – 2006 and Boston from 2009 – 2010. He will play for the Chesapeake Bayhawks this season. The defenseman played in ten games last season for Boston and had one goal, one assist, and twenty ground balls.

Chris Garrity has also re-signed, agreeing to a one-year contract to play for the Chesapeake Bayhawks. The goalie played in all twelve regular season games last season and helped the Bayhawks win the 2010 MLL Championship title. He played a total of 641 minutes last season and had 175 saves. He had 36 saves in the post-season. This will be Garrity’s ninth season with the league.

Mike Leveille will enter his fourth season with the league this year. He agreed to a one-year contract to play for the Rochester Rattlers. Leveille’s professional career includes playing for the Chicago Machine from 2008 – 2010. The attackman played in 11 games last year for the Machine with 22 goals and 14 assists, earning him 36 points.
