Catalino Matches MLL Record

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Rookie attackman Grant Catalino of the Rochester Rattlers became the fifth player in Major League Lacrosse history to score nine goals in a game when he accomplished the feat in the Ratters' 19-16 loss against the Hamilton Nationals at Sahlen's Stadium on Friday evening.

Catalino, who was held to a single assist in his MLL debut against the Boston Cannons last Saturday night, exploded for six goals in the first half as the Rattlers jumped out to an 11-8 lead at the intermission.

However, the Nationals used a nine-goal run to take a 17-13 lead they did not relinquish en route to the victory.

Catalino became the first player to score nine goals in a game since June 10, 2006 when attackman Ryan Powell of the San Francisco Dragons had nine goals in a 25-20 victory over Denver at INVESCO Field at Mile High.

The former University of Maryland standout was drafted by the Denver Outlaws in the fourth round of the MLL Collegiate Draft in January, but was acquired by the Rattlers in a trade.

The seventh-leading scorer in Terrapin men's lacrosse history with 119 career goals, Catalino led the Terrapins to the NCAA Championship Game for the first time since 1998. He was a three-time USILA All-America selection.
