Key Players Renew Contracts for 2012 Season

BOSTON, Mass. (Tuesday, February 28, 2012) – Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced Tuesday that several key players have renewed their contracts for the 2012 season including Ohio Machine defenseman Greg Bice, Rochester Rattlers goaltender John Galloway, Ohio Machine defenseman Brett Hughes, Hamilton Nationals attackman Cody Jamieson, Chesapeake Bayhawks midfielder Michael Kimmel, Ohio Machine midfielder Jordan Levine, Hamilton Nationals goaltender Brett Queener, and Rochester Rattlers defenseman Joel White.

Ohio Machine defenseman Greg Bice has renewed his contract for the 2012 season. The Ohio State alumnus was a fourth round selection (19th overall) in the 2004 MLL Collegiate Draft by the Philadelphia Barrage. Bice has since played for the Barrage, LA Riptide, Chicago Machine, and Rochester Rattlers. Last season he played in 11 games for the Rattlers and picked up 25 ground balls and tallied two points (one goal, one assist). He was named the New Balance Sportsman of the Year, his second time winning the award, for demonstrating sportsmanship both on and off the field. Bice has played in 69 career games, has picked up 177 ground balls and registered 18 points with 11 goals (one two-pointer) and six assists. He is a three time MLL All-Star and has seen the MLL playoffs three times (2004, 2008, 2007).

Rochester Rattlers goaltender John Galloway was a fourth round selection (20th overall) by the Rochester Rattlers in the 2011 MLL Collegiate Draft. Galloway is entering his second season with the Rattlers after appearing in 10 games for the team last season. In his rookie campaign, he finished third in the league with 146 saves. Galloway finished the season with a .537 save percentage and a 13.11 goals against average.

Ohio Machine Defenseman Brett Hughes has signed his contract for the 2012 MLL season. The Virginia alumnus joined the league in 2005 when he played in 11 games for the New Jersey Pride. Hughes is entering his first season with the expansion Machine, his sixth season with the league.  He has played in 46 career games and picked up 87 ground balls. Hughes saw the MLL playoffs two times during his career, once in 2008 with the LA Riptide and once in 2009 with the Denver Outlaws. Hughes is also an MLL All-Star.

Hamilton Nationals attackman Cody Jamieson has also renewed his contract. The Syracuse alumnus was a second round selection (10th overall) by the Nationals in the 2010 MLL Collegiate Draft. He is entering his third season with the team. Last season, Jamieson played in 11 games for the Nationals and finished third on the team in points, registering 26 (16 goals, 10 assists). He also finished fourth on the team in goals. Jamieson played in the 2011 MLL Championship Weekend and scored two goals and one assist, totaling three points.

Chesapeake Bayhawks midfielder Michael Kimmel has signed his contract for the 2012 season. The Johns Hopkins alumnus was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2010 MLL Collegiate Draft by the Bayhawks and he is entering his third season with the team. Kimmel was part of the 2010 MLL Champion Bayhawks team. Last season he played in 11 games for the Bayhawks and registered 13 points (8 goals, 5 assists). He was named to his first MLL All-Star team last season and was the 2011 MLL All-Star MVP after he tied an MLL All-Star Game record by scoring three two-point goals. He also set an All-Star Game record by posting nine points, surpassing the previous seven points, which was set seven times.

Ohio Machine midfielder Jordan Levine has signed his contract for this season. The Albany alumnus was a first round selection (10th overall) by the New Jersey Pride in the 2008 MLL Collegiate Draft. He is entering his first season with the expansion Machine, his fifth season with the league. Last season, he played in 9 games for the Rattlers and registered 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists). He has played in 39 career games and has tallied 51 points (23 goals, 28 assists). He won the Steinfeld Trophy in 2009 with the Nationals and is a two time MLL All-Star.

Hamilton Nationals goaltender Brett Queener has signed his contract for the 2012 MLL season. The Albany alumnus was a fifth round selection (48th overall) by the Rochester Rattlers in the 2008 MLL Collegiate Draft. Queener is entering his fourth season with the Nationals, his fifth season with the league.  Last season, the goaltender played in 6 games for the Nationals and saw 121 minutes of game time with 31 saves. Queener won back-to-back MLL Championships; in 2008 he helped the Rattlers win their first Steinfeld Trophy and in 2009 he helped lead the Nationals to another championship. Queener is a two time MLL All-Star.

Rochester Rattlers defenseman Joel White has also signed his contract for the 2012 season. The Syracuse alumnus was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2011 MLL Collegiate Draft by the Rattlers. He is entering his second season with the team. Last season, White played in 10 games for the Rattlers and led the team in ground balls with 71, finishing second overall in the league behind Brodie Merrill (77 ground balls).
