DENVER, Colo . - Midfielder Paul Rabil scored three goals, including a two-point marker, with four assists as the defending Major League Lacrosse champion Boston Cannons remained the only unbeaten team in the MLL this season with their fourth straight win, a 17-10 victory over the Denver Outlaws (3-1) at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday night.

Rabil, who leads the MLL with 24 points this season, scored two of his three goals in the second half as the Cannons handed Denver its first loss of the season.

After the teams traded goals in the opening three minutes, attackman Brendan Mundorf gave Denver a 3-1 lead when he scored back-to-back goals. However, the Cannons answered by scoring four unanswered goals to take a 5-3 lead with 1:52 remaining in the first quarter.

Attackman Terry Kimener trimmed Denver's deficit to 5-4 with an unassisted just 71 seconds into the second quarter, but the Cannons used a three-goal spurt over a two-minute span to extend the advantage to 8-4.

The teams traded goals in the final four minutes to give Boston a 9-5 edge at the intermission.

After the teams traded goals three times in the third quarter, the Outlaws moved to within 12-9 on a goal by midfielder Jordan McBride less than three minutes into the fourth period. However, the Cannons put the game out of reach by scoring four consecutive goals, including two markers from Rabil, for a 17-9 cushion with 4:04 remaining.

McBride ended the scoring with 3:26 remaining with his second goal of the quarter off an assist from attackman Brendan Mundorf.

While Rabil earned Bud Light MLL Player of the Game honors with his eight-point effort, midfielder Kevin Buchanan added a three-goal performance as the Cannons outshot Denver by a 45-40 margin.

Mundorf led Denver with two goals and two assists while three different players scored two goals.
