Lizards end skid in 13-12 win over Rattlers

GAME RECAP

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (June 17, 2017) – The Lizards ended their three-game losing streak with a 13-12 win at home against the Rochester Rattlers. With fog looming in the air at Shuart Stadium, the Lizards fought in a game that was tied multiple times and improved their record to 3-4 for the season.

Dave Lawson scored the game-winning goal for the Lizards on a man advantage, assisted by Joe Walters with just 51 seconds to go in regulation. 

Walters played a large role in the Lizards victory with four goals and two assists, earning him the Coca-Cola Player of the Game. Curtis Dickson also recorded a hat trick for the Lizards.

PLAYERS OF NOTE

Paul Rabil scored the 500th point of his career with a game-tying goal in the fourth quarter. Only John Grant Jr. (541) has more career points in league history. 

Greg Gurenlian earned his 2,000th career faceoff win, becoming the first player in league history to eclipse that mark. 

Joe Walters recorded a season-high six points. He scored 4 goals, in addition to two assists, including the game-winning assist in the last minute of the game.
