The Big Picture: The expansion Ohio Machine will play its inaugural game on the road this Saturday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. against the Chesapeake Bayhawks. The Machine looks to become the second MLL expansion team in league history to win its first MLL contest. The Bayhawks are coming off a 13-11 win against the Long Island Lizards.

Ohio Machine: The Ohio Machine begins its 2012 season on the road for two weeks starting off in Annapolis, Maryland, to play the Chesapeake Bayhawks in its first ever Major League Lacrosse game.  The Machine is looking to become the second MLL expansion team in league history to win its first MLL contest. Many Machine players will be returning to Annapolis to challenge their former team, including attackmen Buggs Combs and Chazz Woodson, midfielders Dan Groot and Jordan Levine and defensemen Kyle Hartzell and Ray Megill.

Chesapeake Bayhawks: The Bayhawks went on the road in their season opener last weekend and defeated the Long Island Lizards 13-11. Third-year midfielder and Bud Light MVP Ben Hunt totaled five points while rookie goalie T.C. DiBartolo made 15 saves in his pro debut to lead Chesapeake against Long Island. The Bayhawks were short-handed as four key veterans are still playing indoor professional lacrosse while other players were unavailable due to injury.

Head Coach Dave Cottle says the biggest challenge in the upcoming match-up will be determining how the Machine functions. “Obviously we don’t know a whole lot about them. We know some of the individual parts, but we have no idea how they will operate as a whole unit,” Cottle said. “Right now, our complete focus is on trying to improve ourselves. We need to get better from week to week if we want to be a factor in this league,” he said.
