Sieverts Leads Denver Past Long Island, 19-11

DENVER, Colo. - Attackman Jeremy Sieverts scored four goals and added two assists to lead the Denver Outlaws to their third straight win, a 19-11 Major League Lacrosse victory over the Long Island Lizards (0-2) at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday night.

Sieverts, who leads the MLL with 11 goals and 19 points, scored three of his four goals in the second half as the Outlaws held off the Lizards to remain undefeated this season.

Led by a goal and an assist from attackman Grant Catalino, the Lizards jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game. But, the Outlaws rallied by scoring five straight goals, including a pair of markers from attackman Brendan Mundorf, to take a 6-4 lead with seven seconds left in the period.

With 6:54 left in the second quarter, Chris Daniello scored an unassisted goal to close the Lizard deficit to 6-5, but the Outlaws scored four straight goals to end the first half with a 10-5 advantage.

Led by two goals from Sieverts, the Outlaws outscored Long Island by 4-2 in the third quarter, upping their cushion to 14-7. Attackman Max Seibald accounted for the Lizards' lone goal of the quarter, a two-point marker off an assist from midfielder Stephen Peyser with 6:56 left in the frame.

After Sieverts scored his fourth goal of the game just 2:12 into the fourth quarter for a 15-7 Denver advantage, the Lizards answered with three consecutive goals, including a goal and an assist by midfielder Brian Langtry, to narrow the gap to 15-10.

However, the Outlaws secured the victory by scoring four of the final five goals, including a pair of tallies by midfielder Peet Poillon.

While Sieverts led the Outlaws with a six-point effort en route to earning Bud Light MLL Player of the Game honors, midfielder Josh Sims added four goals with an assist while Poillon scored three goals with one assist.

Seibald scored four goals, including a two-point marker, to lead Long Island in a losing effort.
