The Boston Cannons are one of the original four teams of Major League Lacrosse that dates back to 2001. Boston has reached the playoffs in eleven of their fifteen seasons in the MLL. They have reached the league championship game twice, paving the way to victory against the Hamilton Nationals in 2011 for the franchise’s only league championship in team history.

Head Coach Sean Quirk takes over the Cannons this season coming from Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. He is the sixth head coach in Cannons’ history. In his 17 seasons with Endicott, Quirk led the Gulls to a 243-95 record and made Endicott a DIII powerhouse. Assistant Coaches include John Klepacki, current head coach of the Western New England University men’s lacrosse team, Jim Murphy, who joins for his 14th season with the Cannons, Sean Kirwan, current assistant coach at Brown University, as well as, Peter Erickson, current assistant coach for the Endicott men’s lacrosse program. Volunteer assistant coaches include Kieran Kavanaugh, Ed McCarthy and head equipment manager, Michael Fox.

The Boston Cannons front office added more personnel in the off season with a new team President, Ian Frenette. Frenette brings extensive leadership and professional sport business knowledge through his 6 seasons with the Boston Celtics as the Vice President of Corporate Partnerships. Frenette also spent 6 years with IMG in the IMG Golf Division as a Sales Director. Kevin Barney will continue to oversee team operations and serve as General Manager.

Heading back to Harvard Stadium for the 2016, the Cannons kick off their season on Saturday, April 23rd against the Charlotte Hounds. The home opener will be the Cannons' first look of the newest team to be welcomed in MLL, the Atlanta Blaze, on Saturday, April 30th. In the off season, the Cannons selected 14 players in the 2016 Supplemental Draft and acquired Mason Poli through a trade with Charlotte.
