USILA All-Americans announced

March 18, 2016
The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association named this year’s  Division I  All-Americans on Thursday May 23, 2013.  Fourteen players were given the honor of making the All-American First Team, including eight Major League Lacrosse draftees.

The First Team includes defenseman, Tucker Durkin, the third overall draft pick in 2013. Initially drafted by the Charlotte Hounds, Durkin made his MLL debut with the Hamilton Nationals in week 4 after a sizeable trade with Charlotte.

Marcus Holman, who also made his MLL debut, the same day he was named to the All-American First Team, put up four points in his first game with the Ohio Machine. Holman was drafted twelfth overall in the second round, having played for North Carolina.

Many of the 2013 draft class have earned a place on one of the three All-American teams or made honorable mention, a list of 54 talented collegiate players.

Three NCAA teams, Maryland, Duke, and Loyola, had seven players named All-American.  Jesse Bernhardt and John Haus, both out of Maryland, earned first team honors.  Bernhardt was taken fourth overall by the Chesapeake Bayhawks, while Haus was selected in the second round by Hamilton and dealt away to Charlotte.

Three MLL draftees who made First Team All-American are also still playing for their collegiate teams, heading to the 2013 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships this coming weekend. This includes Jason Noble of Cornell (drafted by Hamilton), JoJo Marasco of Syracuse (Drafted by the New York Lizards), and Cameron Flint of the University of Denver (drafted by the Boston Cannons).  All three players are expected to have big things in store for this weekend and carry that energy into the MLL season with their respective teams should they elect to  join them after the end of their college careers.

Each week the MLL will also name the Cascade Rookie of the Week, where many of this season’s NCAA stars will be featured.  To find out more about the 2013 draft class, and know when your favorite NCAA players are activated make sure to follow Major League Lacrosse on Twitter and check out MajorLeagueLacrosse.com.
