BOSTON (June 19, 2017) – Boston Cannons goalie Tyler Fiorito was named the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week for Week 9. Fiorito and the Cannons became just the second team to beat the Outlaws this season in a 16-9 win.
Fiorito, 27, stopped 19 of the 28 shots he faced for a .678 save percentage. He became the first goalie to limit the Outlaws to single-digit goals since then-Boston goalie Jordan Burke on July 4, 2015. Fiorito has made 108 saves on the season, the third-highest total in the league, and has started all eight of Boston’s games. The former Princeton goalie was one save shy of Brian Phipps (215 saves) for the most saves in the league last year.
Fiorito last won the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week in Week 14 of last season.
