BOSTON (May 1, 2018) – Ohio Machine attackman Marcus Holman was named the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2. His record-setting performance paced the Machine in a 25-13 win over the Lizards on Sunday.
Holman, 26, broke the league record for goals scored in a single game with 11 in Sunday’s win. The sixth-year pro also had an assist for a career-high 12 points. The previous record for goals in a single game was held by John Grant, Jr. who scored 10 goals on Aug. 8, 2016 while playing for the Machine also against the Lizards. Four of Homan’s goals came in a five-minute span in the third quarter. The record-breaking goal was scored 1:26 into the fourth quarter off a feed from Ryan Ambler.
The Machine drafted Holman with the 12th-overall selection in the 2013 Collegiate Draft out of North Carolina. The four-time MLL All-Star was named the Coca-Cola MVP of the Championship Game last season after a six-point performance in the win over Denver.
