The New York Lizards (5-4) defeated the Ohio Machine (3-6) in a 19-13 hotly contested affair. New York midfielder JoJo Marasco had a huge game for the Lizards, getting five goals past Machine goalie Brian Phipps.
The Machine came out strong in the first, capitalizing on the sluggish start by the Lizards. Ohio scored the first two goals in the quarter, with Kyle Harrison and Brian Farrell each netting one. However, New York suddenly awakened, scoring three back-to-back to finish the opening quarter. The Lizards goals were scored by All-Star Game MVP Rob Pannell, with two, and JoJo Marasco with one.
The second quarter started out the same with Harrison once again scoring the first goal for the Machine, but much like in the first, New York took control. Marasco completed a hat trick, scoring two more, and would be joined by Matthew Gibson (also with two) and Tommy Palasek. Ohio would get the last goal of the first half off of a goal by Peter Baum, but would finish down 8-4.
Ohio seemed like a completely different team in the second half, coming out on fire and completing the comeback. The two teams would battle it out, going back and forth throughout the third. Machine goals would be scored by Harrison, Marcus Holman, Tom Schreiber and Baum with three. New York would also see goals by in the third by Kyle Hartzell, Palasek and Marasco.
In the fourth quarter, Ohio faceoff man Robert Dattilo would tie it up at 13. However, that would be the last goal for the Machine. The Lizards would score five straight goals in the second half of the quarter to finish off the Machine 19-13. Goals in fourth would be scored by Baum and Dattilo of Ohio, and Marasco, Hartzell (with a goal and a two-pointer), Maione, Michael Kimmel, Palasek and Ned Crotty.
