The Big Picture: The Denver Outlaws will host the Rochester Rattlers this Saturday at 9:30 p.m. ET. This will be the first match-up between these two teams this season. The Outlaws are 4-2 so far this season, coming off a 16-8 win over the Ohio Machine last week. The Rattlers are 2-3 after a loss to the Hamilton Nationals last week.
Denver Outlaws: The Outlaws will play at home this weekend. The home field advantage may not be a big influence in this game, since the only two games Denver has lost have been at home. During this week's MLL Coaches Conference Call the Outlaws Head Coach Jim Stagnitta talked about the upcoming match and how the Rattlers work well in high pressure games, "They seem to play their best in these types of situations. We're expecting them to bring their A game this week." Denver is tied for second in the league right now with the Boston Cannons, one game away from potentially being number one in MLL.
Players to Watch: Last week, Chris Bocklet was named Cascade Rookie of the Week. He scored 3 goals and 2 assists, having a hand in each of the Outlaws’ four markers in the third period. This University of Virginia graduate finished his collegiate career with 137 career goals and 28 assists, which ranks him fifth in Virginia history. Denver veteran Brendan Mundorf keeps leading the team to victory, he has had 11 goals and 11 assists so far this season. As Head Coach Stagnitta put it, "Mundorf has emerged as our leader on and off the field."
Rochester Rattlers: The Rattlers are tied for 5th place in the league with the Hamilton Nationals. Two out of their three losses this season have been on the road but hopefully they turn that around this weekend. Rochester has prepared their plan of action against Denver, "Against them we have to play a really controlled game, cut down their transition and limit their opportunities" said Head Coach Tim Soudan during this week's MLL Coaches Conference Call. Rochester hopes to pull out a win this week against Denver to stay away from the bottom of the MLL tables
Players to Watch: Ned Crotty had a 3-point game last week with 1 goal and 2 assists. He has at least one point in every game he has played for the Rattlers. Jordan MacIntosh is a rookie to watch out for in the upcoming games. MacIntosh had his second two-goal game in last week’s match-up against the Nationals. A new face to the team is Brad Ross who was traded from the Boston Cannons. Ross had 3 goals in the 4 games he played with the Cannons this season. Last season he had a career high in goals and assists with Boston, scoring 19 goals and six assists.
Next Match-Up: The Denver Outlaws will play the Long Island Lizards next Saturday, June 23rd at 7 p.m. ET in New York. The Rochester Rattlers will take on the Hamilton Nationals at home on Saturday, June 23rd at 7 p.m. ET.
