Lizards’ face-off specialist Greg Gurenlian is teaming up with longtime Lizards star attackman Tim Goettelmann to raise money for Goettlemann’s charity, Monster’s Kids, in support of the Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York. Gurenlian is hosting a face-off challenge during Saturday’s semi-final match-up between the Long Island Lizards and the Denver Outlaws and welcomes fans to participate by pledging an amount of money for every face-off he wins. All charitable donations will benefit Monster's Kids and Cohen Children’s Medical Center.
“Tim Goettelmann was an incredible lacrosse player, but that pales in comparison to the kind of guy he is. He’s one of the best men I’ve ever met and known and had the pleasure to play with,” says Gurenlian. “What he’s done through his charity is incredible.”
Gurenlian hopes to support Goettelmann’s strong charitable efforts through his play at Championship Weekend. While hoisting the Steinfeld Trophy on Sunday remains Gurenlian’s goal, he understands that the pressure of serving Monster’s Kids makes Saturday’s game that much more important.
“If it was possible to have any more pressure on me in the semi-finals, then yes there is,” says Gurenlian of the added pressure on his individual performance. “Any false start could cost the charity $1,000. But, I welcome pressure and I’m excited for it.”
A solid performance by Gurenlian on Saturday could result in two big victories for him and his Lizards teammates – on and off the field.
To get involved, e-mail Patty at email@example.com before 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 25th to enroll and make your pledge for each face-off won. You will then receive an e-mail with instructions on how to make your donation.
