Charlotte native Jake Tripucka to debut with Hounds(, 6/14/2013)

“Jake Tripucka just shakes his head over the irony of playing for the Charlotte Hounds.  Tripucka will make his professional Major League Lacrosse debut this weekend in the city where he was born ... and the city where his father Kelly Tripucka was one of the original members of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets.

“It still doesn’t quite process,” said Jake Tripucka, who will suit up in a Hounds’ jersey for the first time Saturday night at Memorial Stadium against the Boston Cannons…” (read more)

Midseason Awards(, 6/18/2013)

“The halfway point of the 2013 Major League Lacrosse season gives us an opportunity to re-assess, evaluate and critique. It’s also the perfect time to recognize those that have impressed and acknowledge a few off-the-radar players that may be in line for some hardware at the close of the season. In the past I’ve done an odds column for the gamblers out there, but I have been told that my knowledge of how gambling actually works is so miniscule that I should never talk about it ever again. Dude. I’m from New Hampshire. What am I going to bet on? How many times a day I see a guy load a dead animal into his truck? Today it was two. Two times. What do I win? A cup full of Sadness…” (read more)

Denver Outlaws 13, Chesapeake Bayhawks 9

Bayhawks fall short against unbeaten Denver Outlaws, 13-9(, 6/15/2013)

The Denver Outlaws try to stay undefeated in a game against the Chesapeake Bayhawks(, 6/15/2013)

“Trying to defend against any part of the Denver Outlaws’ juggernaut this season is like squeezing a balloon. Apply pressure to choke down one area and another part just gets bigger. Tonight the biggest game of the year so far in Major League Lacrosse pits the league’s most explosive offense (and second-strongest defense) in the Denver Outlaws against its toughest defense (and second-most-potent offense) in the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Without a doubt it’s the toughest test this season for either team…” (read more)

The Denver Outlaws remain undefeated beating the Chesapeake Bayhawks(, 6/18/2013)

“Recent U-Denver graduate, Eric Law, led all scorers in this rematch of last year’s Championship game and helped his new Outlaws squad get the 13-9 victory. Law, who just received his second, “Rookie of the Week,” award in his first two weeks with the squad, punched in 5 goals and has now scored 9 goals on all of his 9 shots taken.
This win improves the Outlaws’ record to 7-0 and gives Denver a two-game lead on top of the MLL standings. Chesapeake now falls to 4-3, but is still likely the team that will challenge the Outlaws the most this season. Denver has scored 20+ in most of their matches this season, but will they have the tact to win those close battles?” (read more)

The game will mark the first with new coach John Tucker as Steve Duffy was relieved of his duties mid-week for a team struggling early in the season. Boston (1-5) is off to one of the worst starts in franchise history, and the team felt like it needed a change in leadership, hence the departure of Duffy, who had amassed a 10-10 record for the team since being hired…” (read more)

Stone’s Big Night Leads Boston Past Charlotte(, 6/16/2013)

“The Boston Cannons left Memorial Stadium in Charlotte with their second win of the season, closing out the game at 15-13 over the Charlotte Hounds on Saturday night.  This was the Hounds' chance at a winning record for the first time in franchise history, but impressive scoring efforts from a well-rounded Boston offense, under the new leadership of John Tucker, coupled with a second quarter shutout, kept Charlotte at bay…” (read more)

The Boston Cannons go down to Charlotte in Major League lacrosse and beat the Hounds(, 6/17/2013)

The Cannons (2-5) withstood a 6-1 deficit early in the game to get a win in the 1 stgame for new coach John Tucker. This week has been a tumultuous one for the Cannons following the ousting of Steve Duffy, who had been the coach since Bill Duffy retired following the 2011 campaign. The team was able to band together to play a game that showed why this team made it to Championship Weekend a year ago. It lost to Charlotte last week to drop to 0-6 on the season…” (read more)
