DENVER, Colo. (Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012) - The Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) have hired
Stan Ross as an assistant coach, the team announced on Tuesday. Ross joins the professional coaching ranks after coaching 17 seasons at the collegiate level (1995-2011).
"Stan Ross has coached both ends of the field as well as enjoying a great deal of success as the head coach at Butler University,” Outlaws General Manager
Tony Seaman said. “He has an excellent working relationship with Coach Stagnitta and together will be instrumental in leading the organization towards its goal of bringing the Steinfeld Cup to Denver."
Most recently, Ross coached at the United States Naval Academy, where he coordinated both the offense and defense for five years (2007-11). Prior to coaching at Navy, he was the head coach at Butler University from 2004-07. Ross coached under Seaman at Towson University, where he spent seven seasons (1998-2004) as the head assistant. He also has coaching experience as an assistant at Princeton (1997-98) and at the University of Denver (1996-97). His coaching career began as an undergraduate assistant coach at Loyola College of Maryland.
Ross played lacrosse at Loyola College (Md.) and was a three-sport varsity athlete (lacrosse, basketball and football) at Boys’ Latin High School of Maryland.
