Hamilton Nationals Defenseman Brodie Merrill Renews Contract

Brodie Merrill has renewed his contract for the 2012 MLL season. The Georgetown University alumnus was the third overall selection in the 2005 MLL Collegiate Draft by the Baltimore Bayhawks. This year Merrill enters his fourth season with the Nationals, his eighth season with the league.
Last season, Merrill was named as the Warrior MLL Defensive Player of the Year for the sixth straight season, a league record. With 77 ground balls in 12 games, he led MLL for the third time in his career. He scored 17 points in 12 games with the Nationals and was the team’s eighth-leading scorer (he led all MLL defenders).
Last season was also the seventh consecutive season Merrill was honored with a seasonal award, as he was named the 2005 Cascade MLL Rookie of the Year. Merrill is a seven-time MLL All-Star and has been named to the All-MLL Team six times.
Merrill ranks second in MLL history with 524 career ground balls and will enter the 2012 season needing 12 ground balls to become the league’s all-time leader.
